Sunset Jedi concept art
A silhouetted Jedi with a golden lightsaber, a Jedi Sentinel's blade, at sunset. Behind them is a port with a hazy ship landing. The red washes over the shallow boglands, roots plunging in and out of the sodden marsh, deepening to what could be deceptively considered a lake until one enters the knee-deep water and finds their robes soaked to the obi.
Concept art sketch. A few hours went into it, I suppose. Why a Jedi? Eh, one of my earliest pieces of digital art that I liked was a Jedi in the snow, so I did a Jedi by a marsh at sunset this time instead. Also, I really like sunset/sunrise colors and wanted to mess around a bit. I still haven't quite settled on what I like best for the final but if I don't stop, well, I'll never get my real art done.
This is just a de-stressing side note for me artistically, not much purpose behind it other than "I wanna draw a person and some scenery for a change". Professionally, I draw fantasy cartography for the most part. But certainly feel free to hire me if this is what style of art you want for some video game concepts or a novel cover.
I like the outcome, more or less. I'm just feeling insecure about my love of highly saturated colors since some teenager complained about a color scheme I love. :)
The tentative final seems more Stranger Things and less Star Wars to me. I worry it loses any of the brilliance of my own digital art since it's been filtered a few times. Hm. Well, thanks for reading, hope you liked the art, have a good one, wanderer!
This is the version I consider to be the tentative final for this art. I like the combination of lighting, the severe contrast retro noir look, still has that pop of gold. Some of it is less saturated, guiding the eye better, perhaps?
This is the 'blue versus red' version I tested. I really like this lightsaber and the mood of the scene, but it didn't feel quite perfect. Also, I had set out to do a yellow lightsaber Jedi, since I usually picked the sentinel class in KotOR / gold saber.
The first version of the final, but then I wanted to mess around with blue, being more traditional to Jedi. I really like this version, but it is very red and saturated and I know that's not everyone's cuppa tea.

The development of the character. Initially I just wanted to draw someone with outstretched arms, then even though I liked the costume rough in stage one, I ended up turning her into a silhouette and lost almost all that initial sketch! Dang!
