A closeup of a region for a client's game. Iciclara I think the world was called, but she didn't want a name logoplate on it. The dragons were her special feature and I respect keeping the focus on the dragons. There was a nice place for the name to go in the corner though... the balance bugs me a bit... I would have liked to put the name there. Of course my clients always get what they want! That's why we have that mightily split river... this is a quite close view of a cluster of islands rather than a large zoomed out continent so I'll allow it as a delta.
What I DO like about this map... many things. I love the pop of red only being on the dragons and civilizations, and the dreamy coloring of the mountains. I love how detailed the little locations are. Love thefog. The eerie stillness of the waters, how it seems frozen and bogged down and still. I captured the essence of what I see of the colors of winter out my window, and the little breakthrough of spring. The sense of tundra. I love the mood I managed to catch in this map. It actually gets a lot of attention in my other portfolio. Lots of emails for something similar but not exactly the same as this one. It's obviously compelling to some people. I like it, there's a few things I think I'd do differently now, but it's still immersive to me.
